SEATTLE — State Route 520 will be closed across Lake Washington and the ongoing Revive I-5 work on southbound Interstate 5 will both happen this weekend, starting Friday night.
Washington State Department of Transportation officials said that starting 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 8, crews will reduce southbound Interstate 5 to two lanes near the stadiums until 5 a.m. on Monday.
All traffic will go through the collector/distributor lane. The eastbound and westbound I-90 ramps to southbound I-5 will be closed. Those ramps will open for two hours after stadium events.
At 11 p.m., Friday, SR 520 will close around-the-clock between I-5 in Seattle and the Eastside until 5 a.m. Monday morning, July 11.
Part of the SR 520 Montlake Project, the closure is needed to place bridge girders over SR 520 in the Montlake area.
On Monday, the westbound SR 520 off-ramp to Roanoke will close for 55 days.
WSDOT says the Montlake Project will improve transportation with a new SR 520 eastbound bridge over Union Bay. This project also includes a new, 3-acre lid covering the highway in Montlake that will include public transit stops and open green space.
East of the lid, a bicycle and pedestrian bridge will be constructed over SR 520.
