Every year since 2010, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and former teammate Michael Robinson head to Richmond, Va., to host an event for Robinson's foundation that aims to help students who may be falling behind in their education.
Last year, Sherman did something out of the ordinary: He promised a scholarship to Varina high school senior Hershai James if she brought her GPA up to 3.0 She did and Sherman honored his promise to give her a scholarship to attend college the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.
"It goes back to knowledge is power and if you have knowledge you're going to be as powerful as you ever want to be," Sherman told the Times-Dispatch.
James plans to attend Norfolk State University where she will study business.
