Richard Sherman is still making an impact in the Seattle area although he is no longer with the Seattle Seahawks.
According to the NFL Players Association, Blanket Coverage, the Richard Sherman Family Foundation donated more than $20,000 last month to the Tacoma School District to help reduce students' lunch debt.
It was just last week KIRO 7 reported Sherman's foundation donated to the Sumner food bank through a food drive at Sumner High School.
The school posted this on its Twitter account: "We appreciate all you do to continue to serve the region."
According to the NFLPA, Sherman's foundation donated to two other food banks in the Seattle area after finding out shelves were almost bare, and it was just in time for Thanksgiving.
The NFLPA named Sherman as last week's Community MVP and plans to make a $10,000 contribution to the Blanket Coverage Foundation.
The Blanket Coverage Foundation was formed in 2013 by Sherman "to provide students in low-income communities with school supplies and clothing, so they can more adequately achieve their goals."
Sherman was drafted by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft after starring at Stanford University.
In seven seasons with the Seahawks, Sherman made the Pro Bowl four times, was named First-team All-Pro three times and helped lead the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl title.
Sherman tore his Achilles tendon in November 2017 against the Arizona Cardinals and was released in the offseason.
Sherman then agreed to a three-year contract with the 49ers but continues to spend his offseasons in the Seattle area.
