SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — Crews closed West Big Lake Boulevard in Mount Vernon following a “presumed” failing of a beaver dam that caused a “flash flood-like incident.”
The dam failed Friday night.
Officials with Skagit County said crews with its Public Works Department will reevaluate the road on Monday.
On Friday, the National Weather Service Seattle issued flood warnings for several rivers, including the Skagit River near Mount Vernon, after the Puget Sound was pummeled by heavy rainfall.
Many roads were blocked and fields soaked in the area.
