SEATTLE — At around noon on Thursday, officers and Seattle Fire Department crews responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision at 4th Avenue South & South Washington Street.
According to the Seattle Police Department, a taxicab and truck were found in the intersection with significant damage.
Firefighters reportedly extricated multiple passengers from the taxicab and provided medical aid on the scene. One male passenger and the male driver of the taxicab were transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in stable condition.
Three female passengers, all in their 70s, were transported HMC. Despite all lifesaving measures, one female passenger succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Patrol officers cordoned off the area and detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to the scene.
Based on the investigation, the driver of the truck was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center.
The roads were closed until around 3 p.m. when the Seattle Department of Transportation posted that they were all clear.
