SEATTLE — A vehicle that can take to the tracks and was working on the new light rail station near Roosevelt High School took off on its own Tuesday morning and injured several workers.
Deputies with the King County Sheriff’s Office told KIRO 7 the truck eventually stopped on its own north of the University District Station.

Officials said four workers were on top of the truck. They were working on high tension lines above when it took off around 9 a.m. A worker was thrown and the other three were able to jump off when it slowed down between the Roosevelt and U-District station.
The truck did not hit any other vehicles or trains, and it would have hit a large concrete wall that separates the new stretch of track from the old if it had kept going.
Two of the workers were taken to area hospitals. Two other workers were treated at the scene and declined to be taken to a hospital.
Sound Transit officials said that, as a precaution, the University of Washington station was evacuated and service was suspended north of Capitol Hill for about 15 minutes.
After things were cleared up, service continued as normal.
