SAMMAMISH, Wash. — The Sammamish Police Department has added additional patrols near Margaret Mead Elementary this week after a possible case of child luring.
Officers say it happened Monday morning on Northeast 21st Way.
According to a letter sent to parents, a Mead Elementary School student was riding his bike to class when a man in a white van approached him and tried to get him to get in.
The district says the student told his parents what happened when he got home from school, and they called administrators as well as the police.
“We echo the district’s message that parents and children always remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings and take necessary steps to ensure children aren’t walking or riding to school alone,” a police spokesperson told KIRO 7 News.
Law enforcement says it’s working closely with the district to look further into this incident.
