BURLINGTON, Wash. — Police in Burlington are searching for a suspect following a fatal shooting at a gas station Friday.
The shooting happened just before 11:30 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of South Burlington Boulevard -- about a quarter mile south of Burlington-Edison High School.
Police identified the suspect as a 19-year-old Christian Flores of Sedro Woolley. See his picture above.
"If you see Flores or have information as to his whereabouts, do not approach and please call 911. Flores is believed to be armed and dangerous," a spokesperson for the police department wrote in a news release.
Family identified the victim as Dougie Gunter, a Swinomish Tribal member, who lived near Mount Vernon. His brother described Gunter as "a great kid, full of life. If you were having a bad day, he was there to make you smile and pick you up."
Both the high school, and Westview Elementary School, were placed on a modified lockdown during the initial investigation.
The lockdown was lifted at 3:20 p.m. and buses began running on a regular schedule at 3:30 p.m.
Police said the victim died at the scene. The suspect, investigators said, should be considered armed and dangerous.
