SEATAC, Wash. — Starting June 1 the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport parking rates will go up.
The airport says it’s necessary to pay for capital investments and cover operating costs but it will cost travelers a pretty penny.
The hourly rate is going up $2 to $8, a 33% increase. Daily parking will go from $34 to $37. Weekly parking will jump from $169 to $222, a 31% bump. However, those are the prices for ‘general parking,’ those wanting to park on floor 4, the terminal direct floor, with have to pay an even higher premium.
Sea-Tac says they evaluate parking costs every year, as this comes after an increase last year. The airport says this year’s bump will help maintain fair market rates, support ongoing garage maintenance and customer service investments, and keep pace with inflation and local tax increases.
“Airports are supported by the users of the airport and the fees, rents, or leases in place with airlines, tenants, and travelers,” says Sea-Tac. “Revenue that is generated at the airport stays at the airport and any revenue over operating costs is reinvested back into the airport to fund current facility upgrades or new projects.”
