SEATTLE — Seahawks Russell Wilson is diving in deeper as an entrepreneur. The beloved quarterback has launched his new "TraceMe" app. The mobile app is said to be a platform that gives access to elite athletes, artists, and others for “superfans."
TraceMe was launched on Sept. 8 with its initial beginning as a public beta iPhone app by its founder and executive chairman Wilson. He will be the first featured celeb on the app with others soon to come.
In a press release from Wilson's company, the app will allow its users to get "a world of exclusive, up close, and original daily content, letting them take a front-row seat and interact with the celebrities they love."
"I've dreamed about launching TraceMe for a long time and I am excited to finally see it come to fruition," said Wilson. "I have worked super hard with the world class team at TraceMe to make this become a reality for our fans."
Wilson will use the app to help him get connected to his fans driving his motivation now that the football season begins.
TraceMe’s CEO Jason LeeKeenan said the app will define, "a new category for superfan engagement.”
Wilson describes his frame for the company as having “a lasting impact” to help leaders engage those who support them.
“I knew I wanted to build this in Seattle, now my hometown, where we are blessed with some of the most innovative technology companies of the last century,” Wilson said.
When it came to getting an offensive line for the app’s funding, Wilson got some serious backers, including Amazon’s Jeff Bezos. The company disclosed it got $9 million to start.
TraceMe is a local start-up located in downtown Seattle’s Pioneer Square. The company is made up of engineers, designers, content creators and other skilled professionals at the Pioneer Square Labs studio.
And if you want to join the TraceMe team, the company has some openings.
The TraceMe app is expected to change the game of social media when it comes to fans who love and want to connect to their favorite celebrities.
No word has been released on an Android version of the app being released.
