The 27-year-old says he has been writing poetry since his senior year at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
"I found out the best way to be able to help somebody is to talk about yourself," Lockett said of his book Monday. "If you talk about someone else's scars, they feel like they're the victim … but if you talk about yourself and you share your own scars, they'll listen more."
Lockett said the book is about self-reflection and serves to remind himself about the important things that matter the most to him.
The book is available for preorder now on Amazon and will be available at book =stores in the area.
