BURIEN, Wash. — A warrant has been issued for a felon who’s wanted in connection with a deadly Burien shootout, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies consider Bryce McFarland dangerous and say he disappeared following the April 9 shooting that left 27-year-old Antonio Jones dead.
Prosecutors have not charged McFarland with murder. He has instead been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm after admitting to firing a gun “repeatedly at various people,” according to charging papers, that said his actions contributed to Jones’ death.
Deputies say a confrontation between strangers led to the shootout near Fourth Ave SW and 153rd Street around midnight.
“He’s a dangerous person,” said King County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ryan Abbott. “Is he going to get in another shootout when he gets into an altercation with somebody?”
Charging papers say Jones, who was with someone involved in the confrontation, was not armed and didn’t appear to be physically involved himself, based on surveillance video obtained by detectives.
Jones was pronounced dead in the street.
Prosecutors have also charged Brandon Hoffman with unlawful delivery of firearm. Charging papers say Hoffman, who gave a gun to McFarland prior to the shootout, fired the fatal shot that killed Jones.
“I drove him to practice every day,” said Seattle sports super fan Lorin “Big Lo” Sandretzky, who was Jones’ youth football coach. “To see one of your own basically taken, getting his life taken from him -- it’s pretty horrible.”
No murder charges have been filed as the investigation continues. Hoffman has since bonded out of jail.
