With a better weather forecast and window, search teams returned to a ground-based search operation Sunday, looking for Dr. Sam Dubal.

Dr. Dubal was last known to be hiking the Mother Mountain Loop out of the Mowich Lake Trailhead on Friday, Oct. 9, and was due out Saturday, Oct 10, according to Mount Rainier National Park officials.

When he didn’t appear at an appointment, friends and relatives reported him missing and rangers found his car at the trailhead.

Crews initially began searching for Dr. Dubal on Oct. 12.

When the weather allowed it, crews have been been searching for him daily. Rangers believe Dr. Dubal went missing near Mowich Lake, an area that includes remote wilderness that is difficult to search.
