LAKEWOOD, Wash. — A search for a missing boater at American Lake concluded on Monday when divers located the body of a drowning victim, according to West Pierce Fire and Rescue.
The body was located around 10:30 a.m. in about 90 feet of water and was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office.
First responders said they were called at about 6:50 p.m. on Saturday to the lake.
When crews arrived, they deployed three boats to search for the missing boater.
Officials said they found a life jacket and a boat but not the missing person.
A Coast Guard crew was called to help and lead the recovery effort, West Pierce Fire and Rescue said.
Officials have not provided any details about what might have happened.
