SeaTac stuffed as families head home from their holidays

SEATAC, Wash. — The holiday season is winding down and people are heading home after time with family.

Seattle Tacoma International Airport expects around 130,000 people to pass through Friday.

SEA travelers tell us flying during the holidays is rough, not only because of long TSA lines, but also because of the emotional family goodbyes.

Christmas has a way of calling people home, and Western Washington native Dillon Estelle said absence makes the heart grow fonder.

“I got to be a tourist in the town I grew up in for a week, so it was pretty fun, we went to Leavenworth and Pike Place,” Estelle said.

Some say the PNW will always be a place to brag about, even if they move away.

“It’s beautiful year-round, people hate on the rain a little bit, but it’s been warm and I think there’s no better place for nature in the country in my opinion,” said Connor Stanley.

Many tell us that being home once a year means passing on as many family traditions as you can.

“I got to see my cute nephews and bake cinnamon rolls with them it was their first time ever making cinnamon rolls,” said Aurora Bahlke.

A wonderful week is now ending and the countdown to next year’s visit begins.

Friday is expected to be the end of the major travel period. Soon, SEA will return to normal staffing, and these security lines will be much more manageable.
