It has only been two weeks since Amber Myers was attacked at knifepoint by a man whom police say tried to rape her. Myers is the owner of Seattle Massage Sauna and Float. Myers said that a man, whom she didn’t know, came into her shop on Aug. 31. She said he threatened her with a knife, forced her into the back room and tried to rape her.
“I don’t know if it’s 100% sunk in, like I know it happened and I feel a little rattled but like I said, I’m still in this sort of we have to get him sort of mode,” Myers said. Now, Seattle police have identified the man as 33-year-old Jordan Alexander.
Myers said a co-worker heard what was happening when Alexander attacked her and stopped it. She said Alexander then ran away and left behind a bag of knives.
SPD released photos and a description of Alexander and said he is 6 feet, 1 inch tall, has a slim build and a shaved head. Officials also said he often tries to disguise himself by wearing head wraps, masks, sunglasses and makeup. Police said he frequents the Capitol Hill area, specifically around 27th Avenue East and East Madison Street, Pine Street and Broadway, 22nd Avenue East and East Madison Street, and Cal Anderson Park.
“Part of me is still in that adrenaline stage where I’m just sort of like we gotta find him, we gotta find him,” Myers said.
This isn’t the first time Alexander has had charges filed against him in King County. He was convicted for crimes he committed in 2008, 2019 and 2020. Court documents say that in July 2021, Alexander was sentenced to 43 months in prison, followed by 18 months of community custody. However, in July 2022, he was released from prison on work release. On Aug. 30, Alexander was placed on escape status by the Department of Corrections. It was during the next day that police said he came to this shop and attacked Myers.
“That’s concerning when you see someone who has this many failures to appear and a history of not following court orders, we wonder why the DOC would put someone on work release status like that,” said Casey McNerthney, from the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
KIRO 7 did reach out to the DOC and asked why Alexander was placed on work release given his history. The DOC said it would reply with an answer soon.
“It’s a little frustrating maybe because for whatever reason if he’s had so many things in his past, you know, why isn’t he detained in some way right now?” Myers said. At this point, she said, she just wants him caught.
“I just really, really want this to never happen again,” Myers said. “That would be the worst thing I could think of is if there was, you know, if this happened to someone else.”
Police urge anyone who sees Alexander to not approach him but call 911 instead.
Alexander is described as a 33-year-old Black man, six-foot and one-inch tall, with a slim build and shaved head.
During the attack Alexander was wearing an orange shirt under a long-sleeved button-down shirt with a checkered pattern, an orange hat, jeans and black work boots.
According to police, Alexander has attempted to disguise himself in incidents over the years, including wearing a head wrap, mask, sunglasses and light-colored make-up.
Alexander is known to frequent the Capitol Hill area, especially around 27th Avenue East and East Madison Street, Pine Street and Broadway, 22nd Avenue East and East Madison Street, and Cal Anderson Park.
If you know where Alexander is, call 911.
