SEATTLE — A woman was killed when she fell from an overpass onto Interstate 5 and was hit by a car early Friday.

Shortly before 2 a.m., a Washington State Patrol trooper saw someone lying in the left lane of southbound I-5 near the Madison Street overpass. Medics were called, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that she fell from the Madison Street overpass onto the freeway, where she was hit by a car, according to the WSP.

The vehicle that hit the 21-year-old Seattle woman left the scene.

Friday afternoon, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as Sylvia Rose, 21, of Seattle.

The southbound lanes were closed at Madison Street for three hours and 20 minutes while troopers investigated.

WSP detectives are hoping to find witnesses with information or dashcam video that could help identify the vehicle that hit the woman.

If you have information or video, you’re asked to contact WSP Det. Russ Haake at Russ.Haake@wsp.wa.gov.
