TUMWATER, Wash. — A second Washington Department of Corrections employee tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a press release.
A DOC employee working at the headquarters in Tumwater told the department March 13 that they tested positive for COVID-19. The employee was last at work March 11 and is now recovering at home.
The department notified employees who worked in close contact with the person who tested positive, and asked them to self-quarantine at home.
“Corrections continues to be vigilant in efforts to protect our staff, those we serve and our communities,” said Secretary Steve Sinclair.
DOC reported March 13 that the first employee who tested positive worked at the Monroe Correctional Complex. That employee is also now recovering at home.
