NEWCASTLE, Wash. — A Newcastle home was completely destroyed after a fire broke out for the second time in hours.
Crews first responded to the fire, located just west of Lake Boren Park, around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Fire officials said the fire started on a deck outside the house.
Family members and their three dogs were able to get out safely, but officials said a cat died in the fire.
Crews put out the flames and left after completing their investigation, officials said.
Around 11:30 p.m., neighbors reported that a second fire had started at the house.
Crews responded but the home was completely engulfed in flames.
Officials said no one was inside the home at the time of the second fire and crews are still on scene to watch for hot spots.
