SEATTLE — A crash involving a semitruck and a vehicle on northbound I-5 just south of Spokane Street caused long delays.
Seattle fire officials said the semi overturned and both vehicles caught fire Thursday evening.
All occupants were able to escape own their own, fire officials said. One person was taken to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries, Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson said.
The crash blocked the four left lanes.
Drivers headed that way were advised to use an alternate route. All northbound lanes of traffic were being pushed off at Michigan Street.
Only the far right lane of traffic was getting by, at one time.
Officials had not given an estimated time for when all the lanes would reopen.
Authorities opened the right lane sporadically to let traffic through at times.
The HOV lane is still closed because of what authorities said was massive damage to a Jersey barrier and a light pole.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
