MARYSVILLE, Wash. — A semitruck crashed and jackknifed, blocking all lanes of southbound Interstate 5 just south of 88th Street Northeast in Marysville on Wednesday.
The semi crashed sometime just after 5 p.m., but the driver was reportedly not hurt, according to officials.
According to Washington State Patrol troopers, the semi’s driver told them he thinks he fell asleep and went off the road.
A guardrail was reportedly destroyed in the crash.
A Department of Ecology crew was called to the scene to clean up fuel spilled in the crash. The fuel tank was ruptured, spilling about 50 to 80 gallons of fuel, Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
