Several Seattle drawbridges briefly closed Sunday afternoon for cooling showers, the Seattle Department of Transportation said.
This weekend we'll all be trying to stay cool - including our 3 Ship Canal bridges ☀️🌉😓

SDOT crews will be out 8/16 in afternoon to spray the Ballard, Fremont, & University bridges with H2O 💦 to protect our infrastructure from overheating. Bridges may be closed briefly. pic.twitter.com/3EbvMqKB6z
The Ballard, Fremont and University Bridges were closed for about 10 minutes at a time while a SDOT cooling truck sprayed them down.
The showers protect the bridges from overheating.
Crews started with the Ballard Bridge at about 12 p.m. and then moved on to the Fremont and University bridges.
They then returned to each bridge so they all got two showers.
Temperatures in Seattle reached 98 degrees.
