FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A man is in critical condition after he was shot by a Washington State Patrol trooper in Federal Way on Wednesday night.
The shooting happened at 7:53 p.m. near South 348th Street and Enchanted Parkway South, near Costco.
As a trooper was trying to pull over a driver, there was an altercation and the driver allegedly crashed into at least one other vehicle, according to the Independent Force Investigation Team - King County.
During the altercation, the trooper shot the 34-year-old driver.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, according to South King Fire & Rescue.
The trooper was not hurt and has been placed on administrative leave.
The Independent Force Investigation Team is investigating the shooting.
