Shoplifting leads to hit-and-run crash, arrests in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Lynnwood police said a couple who fled after a woman stole merchandise at Alderwood Mall, hit a car and then ran from the scene before they were arrested Tuesday.

Officers said a 27-year-old woman shoplifted from the mall and then got into a stolen truck with a man waiting behind the wheel in the parking lot.

While fleeing, the driver, a 36-year-old man, ran multiple red lights and then struck and injured a woman in a car at 184th Street Southwest and 36th Avenue West, according to Lynnwood police.

After the crash, the man and the woman ran away.

Officers said the woman was found hiding near the crashed truck almost immediately by police K-9 Rico.

She is facing theft charges.

The driver was later found by a Lynnwood Police Department sergeant and was taken into custody.

He is facing charges of felony DUI, reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, and hit-and-run.
