LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Lynnwood police are looking for a robbery suspect after a shoplifting event took a violent turn Saturday.
On Saturday, Dec. 12, a woman was caught shoplifting at the Fred Meyer in Lynnwood by a loss prevention employee. The woman then used pepper spray on the employee when they attempted to stop her from stealing and then she fled the store.
Police arrived on scene and spotted the suspect trying to leave in a vehicle. An officer tried to get her to stop, but she continued driving, hitting a patrol vehicle as she went.
The suspect’s vehicle was found on fire at I-5 and 220th shortly afterward. Police learned that a concerned passerby who was unaware of the incident that had just occurred at the Fred Meyer picked up the suspect and provided her a ride away from the scene.
At this time, police don’t know what caused the suspect’s car to ignite and no one involved in the incident was seriously injured.
Lynnwood police have not yet identified a suspect and are continuing to investigate.
