Shots fired during burglary of South Hill Mall, police say

PUYALLUP, Wash. — UPDATE, 12:27 P.M. WEDNESDAY: We just received dozens of clips of the incident. We're going through them now, and Kevin McCarty will show you the suspect's steps and what police say went down inside the mall - on KIRO 7 at 5 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Macy's at South Hill Mall reopened around 11 a.m. after shots were fired during a burglary Tuesday morning, accoriding to Puyallup police.

Police said a 22-year-old Milton man shot out the glass doors in the store while attempting to leave the store.

Four stores were burglarized in total, police said.

Police said the man got into the mall through the roof, and when employees showed up around 6 a.m., they heard gunshots and called police.

Arriving officers said they saw the man run out of the store and arrested him without incident.

No shots were fired by police.

Police asked patrons who visit the Macy’s on Tuesday to enter through the Meridian side of the mall.
