Silver alert canceled for Spokane woman missing after leaving Ellensburg

SPOKANE, Wash. — UPDATE: The silver alert was canceled Monday night after Lynell McFarland was found and taken to a local hospital.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 68-year old Lynell McFarland of Spokane Valley, Washington.

On Nov. 18, McFarland left the Ellensburg area at 2:30 p.m. to return home to Spokane. Her daughter Amanda texted her approximately an hour and a half later asking if she had arrived home, and received a text that said “not yet, but I will swing by your apartment first.”

McFarland’s daughter reported her missing around 8:30 p.m. the next day, as she had still not shown up at her residence or her daughter’s apartment.

Phone location records obtained by the sheriff’s office show that she was in the area of Blewett Pass near Highway 97 north of Ellensburg on Friday morning. Deputies are continuing to search roads in that area.

McFarland’s daughter reports concern for her mother’s mental health and driving capabilities, mentioning that McFarland often gets lost and takes medication that can cause impairment.

McFarland is described as being 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing around 140 pounds. She was last seen wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt, black fleece jacket and blue jeans. She has green eyes, short-cropped gray hair and walks with a limp. The license of her black Mitsubishi Eclipse is AQE5525, and it has numerous dents and scratches on the body.

Anyone who believes they have information about her whereabouts or who has seen her recently is asked to call the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office at 509-962-7525.
