Skull found in Kitsap County determined to be medical specimen

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) says a skull discovered in early December was most likely a medical specimen.

The skull was discovered Dec. 3 in unincorporated Bremerton. At the time of discovery, the KCSO said there was no evidence of a crime in connection with the discovery.

The Kitsap County Medical Examiner examined the skull. The investigation revealed the skull appears to have been sitting on a shelf indoors for many years and most likely a medical specimen at some point.

The skull will be turned over to the Washington State Historical Anthropologist’s Office for proper documentation and storage or disposal.
