As Washington is under a state of emergency because of wildfire threat, some of the smoke from fires is causing haze across the area and some people reported smelling it Wednesday morning.
Firefighters are currently battling at least 10 active wildfires and the state Department of Natural Resources says it has responded to 891 fires so far this year.
KIRO 7 Photojournalist Bruce Groves said he could smell the smoke from wildfires last night in Tacoma, but currently, the air quality there is good, as is all of Western Washington.
However, a fire burning on Hartstine Island in Mason County has affected air quality in places, with wind pushing smoke as far north as Snohomish County.
The National Weather Service said air quality began to change Tuesday, with wildfire smoke being pushed east.
A lot of air monitoring stations in Central and Eastern Washington are reporting moderate to unhealthy air quality.
