SEATTLE — Snohomish and King counties released their DUI totals from Cinco De Mayo Sunday.
On Friday, the Washington State Patrol announced their plans to conduct extra patrols for suspected drunken drivers.
"Additional troopers, officers and deputies will be patrolling King County in an effort to remove impaired drivers and prevent tragedies that can potentially be the outcome of impaired driving," the state patrol said in a news release Friday.
The last time Cinco De Mayo fell on a Saturday was in 2012 when 11 fatal crashes were recorded in King County -- 8 of those were due to impaired driving.
On Saturday, Snohomish County deputies arrested nine suspected DUI drivers.
In King County, troopers arrested 43 suspected DUI drivers.
Despite the dozens arrested -- there were no serious or deadly crashes in King County on Cinco de Mayo this year.
