Both directions of I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass are now open.

The westbound lanes reopened at 4 a.m. Thursday.  The eastbound lanes of I-90 reopened at 4 p.m. Wednesday with traffic metered in groups.

The westbound lanes were closed since Monday night after severe weather led to unsafe driving conditions, including high avalanche danger.

Troopers said there were multiple crashes and spinouts on Monday, including a fatal crash westbound.

Helicopters made the rare move Wednesday of dropping explosives as part of avalanche control to help get the lanes back open.

WSDOT said Tuesday its avalanche supervisor measured 53 inches of snow within 48 hours.
