LEAVENWORTH, Wash. — The City of Leavenworth says visitors can now enjoy sledding after an unexpected foot of snow fell overnight in the area.
Sledding was closed indefinitely last week, after someone drove a truck through the central area of the tourist town, doing donuts and kicking up mud in the park.
A video of the incident circulated on Facebook.
According to a release from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was a white man in his 20s or 30s. He has not been identified yet but deputies are trying to find him.
Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (509) 667-6845.
Leavenworth is a popular tourist destination during the holidays. Visitors can go and enjoy the lights in Leavenworth through February. For those people not comfortable driving into the mountains to get there, the city’s website has suggestions for bus tours and other forms of transportation.
