EVERETT, Wash. — Some in-person classes resumed Wednesday at Everett Community College.
School officials said the state approved a limited number of classes and said specific procedures are in place to keep students and staff safe.
The approved classes include Emergency Medical Services, Firefighter Academy, Medical Assisting, Nursing and Phlebotomy Technician.
The school said all of the classes require some hands-on training.

Students must go through various health precautions and they will be required to wear masks.
"When they get to campus, they'll also undergo a health screening upon entering the building, so we'll ask them health check questions as well as do a temperature check upon entering the building," Director of Public Relations Katherine Schiffner told KIRO 7.
The classes are being held only in Liberty Hall. All other classes are being held online.

So far it is the only community college KIRO 7 is aware of holding some in-person classes as all others continue to use an online-only curriculum.
School officials said they will provide update on other programs that may be authorized to return to on-campus instruction on Friday.
More schools and businesses could follow suit as people continue to seek guidance from state leaders and Gov. Jay Inslee on reopening procedures.
