Someone is vandalizing telecom cables, internet lines in King County

KING COUNTY, Wash. — Someone has been vandalizing telecom cables and internet lines in King County, and the sheriff’s office is partnering with Comcast to find the person or people responsible.

Detectives say this vandalism is impacting 911 services, schools, hospitals, businesses, and homes in some areas of King County.

“Tampering with these lines is a crime,” Detective Mike Ramirez said in a public service announcement posted online.

Detectives believe the culprits are stealing copper wire from these cables to sell it for money.

Anyone who sees someone tampering with these lines is asked to report it.
