South Seattle shooting ends with 1 injured, leads to arrest and gun seized

SEATTLE — A shooting in south Seattle early Saturday resulted in a man being injured and led to the arrest of another person with a gun.

At 2 a.m., a man called 911 and said he had a gun at a bar in the 8600 block of 14th Avenue South and then hung up.

When dispatchers called back, someone else picked up and said someone had been shot, according to police.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg in the 1200 block of South Cloverdale Street. Police said the victim refused to cooperate with the investigation.

The 29-year-old victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

While officers continued to investigate, they said they noticed an “agitated” man with a gun in his pocket, as he had created a disturbance in the area.

The 24-year-old man was arrested after police had taken the gun, which had a destroyed serial number on it, officials said.

They also found out the man had a warrant for assault.

That man was booked into the King County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm and the warrant.

Police are investigating and working to find whether the man who was arrested had any connection to the shooting.
