SEATTLE — The world's first and only revolving glass floor will be open to visitors at the Space Needle starting Friday.

It will now be part of the multi-level observation deck experience.

Visitors can buy one one ticket and access both the outdoor observation deck and the rotating glass floor one level below.

The principal glass designer for the project, Richard Green, told us safety is the main priority when creating this attraction.

“This has 10 layers of glass between us and 500 feet down and they are bonded together with a high strength inner layer,” said Green. “That means that even if we get a crack in one of these pieces, it will still be fine."

The Loupe is part of the Space Needle's $100-million renovation project.

It’s connected to the newly remodeled observation deck where visitors access through a giant spiraled staircase.

The next big unveiling for the Space Needle is set to be a new dining concept which will replace Sky City Restaurant, which shut down last fall.

No word yet on when it will open but when it does, we are told this moving glass floor will be the centerpiece.

The rotating floor will open to the public starting at 8 a.m. Friday.
