SPANAWAY, Wash. — A man from Spanaway recently won big after checking some lottery tickets he forgot he’d purchased.
According to a news release from Washington’s Lottery, the man bought a $5 Minty Money ticket and ended up winning $50,000.
The release said the man purchased the ticket at Barney & Bernie’s Grocery Deli on his way out of town and forgot about it until about a week later.
Initially, he didn’t think he won anything. However, he checked the ticket again on the lottery app and saw he’d won the game’s top prize.
Washington’s Lottery says the man plans to use some of the money on a trip to Europe with his girlfriend and invest the rest.
