SEATTLE, Wash. — Earlier this week, Seattle police officers arrested five people living inside an empty U-District building.
According to an SPD press release, police responded to a call about potential trespassers living in a building along the 4400 block of 8th Avenue NE just before 2 p.m. Aug. 4.
The release notes that the building has no current renters and has been completely vacant for years.
Upon arrival, officers discovered fourteen trespassers inside, as well as a system of cameras that the trespassers installed, after they managed to restore power.
Two 32-year-old men, a 36-year-old man, a 39-year-old woman, and a 42-year-old woman were arrested on scene for “various felony and misdemeanor warrants from several surrounding jurisdictions,” according to the release.
In addition to four rifles, drugs, and money, police found three electric bikes, which were stolen, and eight dogs. Of the eight, four were noted to be puppies.
The dogs, including Nala (seen in the photos above), are currently with the Seattle Animal Shelter, and looking for a new home. Those interested in adopting can visit Seattle Animal Shelter’s website.
