Due to mechanical damage suffered during last weeks ice storm, the Spokane Street Swing Bridge will be closed for an additional two weeks, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation.
The mechanical damage was intensified after a power outage during the ice storm.
According to SDOT, crews are working as quickly as possible to develop a repair plan for the bridge.
Minor issues with the hydraulic system that moves the bridge will need to be repaired before the bridge can be reliably used.
The bridge is still open for maritime traffic, but will remain closed for vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians.
For detours, travelers by car can still use the West Seattle High-Rise Bridge. Trucks heading to Terminal 5 can use the West Seattle High-Rise Bridge or West Marginal Way SW. Bicyclists may use the First Avenue South Bridge.
