PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Both the Chinook Pass (SR 410) and the Cayuse Pass (SR 123) have reopened after being closed Sunday, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced Monday.
According to WSDOT, the two passes were closed off, because of “heavy snow and multiple collisions.”

WSDOT also notes that, after crews analyzed both passes Monday, they decided conditions were good enough to reopen the two state routes.
Despite road conditions improving, WSDOT advises anyone traveling through the mountains this week to prepare themselves and their vehicle for “winter conditions.”
