BURIEN, Wash. — The SR 509 task force has released a composite sketch of a potential suspect related to a series of shootings in a stretch of SR 509 in the Burien-SeaTac area.

The task force, created in January, received results from the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab that indicated the use of a single firearm in a series of shootings in the area.

"Additional testing is being completed for the purpose of further linkage. Preliminary indications are that additional shootings may be linked to this individual firearm," the task force said in a news release.

The firearm was linked to a drive-by shooting of a residence on South 240th Place in Des Moines on Dec. 18, 2018, and a shooting into a vehicle on Dec. 20, 2018 on SR 509 just south of the First Avenue South Bridge.

A 14-year-old boy in the vehicle was hit in the head and subsequently lost his vision.

Officials said they are working to determine whether or not other incidents could be tied to the individual firearm.

Police believe the individual(s) responsible for the shootings has ties to the community.

“Information to date indicates the individual below, driving a red or maroon SUV (make and model unknown), may have been in the vicinity of some of these shootings,” officials said.

Anyone with information on the individual in the sketch, or who has/had access to a red or maroon SUV within the past year, is asked to contact the task force at (425) 401-7880 or email SR509shootingtip@wsp.wa.gov.
