DOUGLAS COUNTY, Wash. — The Coulee Meadows Fire that started before 8 p.m. Thursday in Douglas County has burned nearly 800 acres and is 100% contained.
Early Friday morning, state assistance was mobilized to address the growing wildfire located just south of U.S. 2, north of Ephrata.
The fire continued to move through fast-burning sage and grass. No structures were damaged.
The fire was burning north of Olson Road and moving west from Moses Coulee Road through terrain that made it difficult to fight the fire.
Level-one evacuations were issued for the area, and there was a red-flag warning throughout Central Washington.
Mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau had ordered three strike teams, hand crews and heavy equipment to handle the fire.
There’s no word on what caused the fire.
