Car hit by gunfire on I-5 in Lynnwood (WSDOT)

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Washington State Patrol troopers closed northbound I-5 in Lynnwood briefly after a car was struck by gunfire.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The victim told troopers he was driving a white Chrysler 300 heading north on I-5 near 44th Avenue when he noticed he was being closely followed by a white, 2012 or newer Honda Accord.

The driver of the Honda changed lanes and moved to pass the victim on the right. As the Honda pulled up next to the victim, gunfire came from the driver’s side and hit the victim’s Chrysler five times.

The victim was not hurt.

The northbound lanes were fully blocked for about 15 minutes while investigators searched for evidence.
