State Route 512 at I-5 reopens after brush fire

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Both directions of State Route 512 at I-5 in Pierce County were shut down Tuesday afternoon due to a brush fire.

The fire started along I-5 northbound at milepost 127.5 around 12:30 p.m.

Crews originally closed only the northbound off-ramp to SR 512, but shut both directions down when the fire jumped to both sides.

Officials began reopening the lanes around 1:40 p.m.

Drivers are asked to be careful when traveling through the area.
