SEATTLE — A stolen car made an escape on Wednesday after driving on a Seattle sidewalk, according to a video captured by KIRO Radio.
The video begins with several Seattle police officers, with guns drawn, surrounding a red car that is stopped on a sidewalk.
After a few moments, the red car reverses momentarily, then drives the length of the sidewalk to escape.
When reached for comment, Seattle police said that due to the extreme risk pursuits create, they felt it was safer for the community to allow the suspect to escape.
Police said they will catch the suspect on another day.
For those wondering why we wouldn't pursue the suspect in this situation, we have a link to our policy. Due to the extreme risk pursuits create, we will always err on the side of safety for everyone in our community. We will catch the suspect another day. https://t.co/1O6fDjlMan
