A local ironworker shared a stunning photo taken during work on the new Rainier Square Tower.
The 58-story tower is being constructed on Union Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenue, adjacent to the existing Rainier Tower. When completed in 2020, it's expected to be the second largest building in Seattle behind the Columbia Center.
Yimmy Turner, part of Iron Workers Local Union No. 86, took the photo earlier this year. The 29-year-old -- who, along with others, is protected by following required safety standards -- said The Erection Company "did a great job with a top-notch crew and record-breaking time."
"I was glad to be a part of it while I was there," he said.
Turner said he and other ironworkers are trying to show what they do to attract young people to the building trades, so they know there are options other than college.
