RENTON, Wash. — Calls of shots fired inside a home turn into a barricade situation involving multiple police agencies and SWAT in Renton.
Around 11 a.m. the police answered calls of gunfire inside a home near 2600 Northeast 5th Court in Renton.
“All of a sudden, I just hear a loud bang. I immediately knew that it was a gunshot so my response kicked in and I just ran out the house and grab anything,” said Samuel, who lives nearby.
Samuel told KIRO 7 he was at home playing video games in his bedroom when a bullet missed his head by a few inches.
“It went through the window then it went through my wall and went to the bathroom and in the kitchen sink,” he explained.
Samuel immediately called 911.
“I was almost certain that it was that house as soon as the shots went off,” Samuel said.
When police arrived, they tried to make contact but the suspect barricaded himself inside the house.
Renton Police request Valley SWAT to help arrest the 35-year-old man.
Around 3:30 p.m., the man fired shots at police but did not hit anyone.
KIRO 7 spoke with a neighbor who saw it all happened. She says this type of behavior is nothing new from the house.
“They will fire gunshots off, maybe a while once a week for the past few years it’s been a regular thing,” she said.
The man eventually surrendered and was taken to jail on suspicion of first-degree assault.
Renton PD said the scene is secured but the investigation is expected to last a few hours.
