Charges have been filed against a man after an attempted burglary of a gun shop and a high-speed chase that ended in a crash near Fall City on Dec. 6.
Kristopher Shawn Holmes has been charged with multiple crimes, including attempting to elude a police vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, and conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, following the incident near Fall City, according to charging documents filed in King County Superior Court.
On December 6, around 12:11 a.m., a King County Sheriff’s deputy patrolling near Fall City Firearms observed two suspicious vehicles parked outside the closed business.
Both vehicles were running, and five individuals, including Holmes, were seen near the storefront. All wore balaclavas and appeared to be staging for a quick getaway.
When the suspects noticed the marked patrol vehicle, they ran into one of the running cars, a stolen Kia Sportage.
The deputy chased the car as it reached speeds of 100 to 110 mph and drove into oncoming traffic.
The chase ended when the driver lost control and crashed near Northeast Tolt Hill Road.
Four of the five suspects, including Holmes, ran from the scene but were later apprehended with assistance from a K-9 unit.
The suspects ranged in age from 13 to 21.
The fifth suspect, a juvenile, remained at the scene. Deputies discovered extensive damage to the stolen Kia’s ignition and steering column, indicating it had been hotwired.
A second vehicle left at the scene, a stolen Hyundai Elantra, was also found to have ignition damage.
According to police, Holmes admitted to driving the Kia Sportage during the incident.
No damage was reported to Fall City Firearms, as the burglary was interrupted before any property was taken or vandalized.
Prosecutors noted that Holmes has a history of pending charges, including robbery and property destruction, and has been issued four warrants since 2023.
They are seeking $10,000 bail, citing Holmes’ escalating criminal behavior and risk to public safety.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Prosecutors are requesting standard conditions of release, including restrictions on contact with co-conspirators and the business involved.
