Suspect charged in attack on bartender released from jail on own recognizance

KING COUNTY, Wash. — A 38-year-old man suspected of slashing a Seattle bartender in the face in December has been released from jail on his own recognizance, according to court documents.

Marques Echols was charged with second-degree assault in the attack on Felicite Ogilvy.

Ogilvy, who works at Joe’s Bar & Grill, turned the suspect away after he refused to show proof of vaccination.

Ogilvy told KIRO 7 that things started calmly but suddenly escalated.

“As soon as I throw him out that’s when he decides to fling a stick at my face,” said Ogilvy.

The confrontation was caught on surveillance video.

Ogilvy needed 31 stitches to close the wound on her left cheek.

Prosecutors sought to hold Echols on $75,000 bail but a judge released him on his own recognizance, court records state.
