A man is being sought by Centralia police after a high-speed pursuit and crash early Thursday morning.
At around 2:18 a.m. on December 12, a Centralia Police officer saw a red SUV driving southbound on North Pearl Street that appeared to be driving under the influence.
The officer activated emergency lights to initiate a stop, but the driver drove away at a high rate of speed.
The officer chased the suspect until the driver turned off North Pearl Street onto a side road, then drove the wrong way on North Tower Street to evade capture.
For safety reasons, the officer discontinued the pursuit.
A short time later, the suspect attempted to turn east onto Center Street from North Tower but lost control of the vehicle.
The SUV slid out of the turn, struck a parked car, and crashed into a building, embedding itself inside.
The male suspect was last seen running eastbound on Center Street.
A K9 team was deployed to track the suspect, but the search was unsuccessful.
Centralia Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact their department.
The suspect is wanted in connection with eluding law enforcement and a hit-and-run.
